I am a Life Sciences student currently working on characterising the different kinds of organisms living on algae. My final year project involves observing the similarities and differences in community structure of these invertebrates in relation to their algal hosts, based on algal morphology and the different regions of Singapore. My project involves sorting through algae to determine the abundance and number of species of organisms in algae samples. Molecular tools will be applied to identify these organisms and their macroalgal hosts. As my previous project involved the characterization of zooplankton present around Sisters’ Islands, I hope to observe more interesting and diverse organisms in my current project.
