Bio and Research Interests

Marine biology as a professional pursuit is a childhood dream fulfilled, which has been entirely enabled by the nurturing and supportive community of the marine labs that have taken me in. As an undergraduate, I studied the historical commercial fisheries and contemporary recreational fisheries of Singapore under Dr Zeehan Jaafar as part of the Marine Conservation Lab, where I was also exposed to a range of experiences including field methods such as dive surveys. It was there where I first learned that I like analysing and mining new insights from large datasets. These rich experiences have helped me to expand my research interests beyond solely fish. Currently, I am investigating the relationship between benthic fauna communities and fish communities, both locally, and at a wider, Indo-Pacific scale.
