Background

I am a final-year undergraduate in the Bachelor of Environmental Studies (BES) programme, and pursing a minor in geographic information system (GIS) and aquatic ecology. Marine creatures have always fascinated me and I am particularly interested in cnidarians due to how weirdly mesmerising they are! This lifelong fascination with discovering more about the marine world pushes me to gain research experience. Previously, I completed a project under the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme in Environmental Studies (UROPES) on the impacts of the fourth global coral bleaching event in Singapore.

Current Research

My current project is testing environmental DNA as a means to identify jellyfish (medusozoan) species present in the environment. By detecting medusozoan DNA from organic matter suspended in seawater, I aim to reveal a clearer picture of jellyfish biodiversity in Singapore beyond specimens that have been collected and identified.
