Project

Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) has detrimental impacts on the marine ecosystem and economical repercussions. Early 2014, HAB events were reported along the Johor Straits, resulting in massive fish kills from food fish farms. Various fishes such as archerfish, filefish, green chromide, rabbitfishes, scats, angelfish and catfish died within Raffles Marina and its adjacent waters. While fish surveys have been done on coastal engineering, little is known about the effect of algal bloom on fish populations. Therefore, this 9-month project aims to track the recovery of fish population in and near Raffles Marina.
